Renewing Your Mind, Rewiring Your Brain

Dr. Lee Warren, a neurosurgeon for 25 years, says emotional wellness begins when we treat ourselves like our own “brain surgeon” by performing regular “thought biopsies.” He suggests that we pause, identify toxic lies, and refuse to let our feelings act as our ultimate authority.

According to Dr. Warren, if we’re sad, stressed, or think we’re stuck, our perceptions about ourselves, the world, and other people can mislead us into thinking we’re powerless to change our situation when, in fact, our thought patterns influence outcomes in our lives.

How to Live a Life That Inspires and Draws Others to Jesus

One of the most intimidating verses in Scripture for many Christians is Matthew 28:19-20: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”

Many of us struggle to share our faith because we’re embarrassed, we don’t want to impose our beliefs on someone else, or we fear they’ll find our views offensive.

The Good, the Bad, and the Holy of Purity Culture

The culture has lost its way regarding sex.

That’s always been true, but it’s more and more evident every day. The devil twists words and ideas until good things become bad things, and bad things become good things – so much so that talk of purity gets distorted or, worse, weaponized.

On Focus on the Family with Jim Daly, I’m having a conversation with author Dannah Gresh about biblical truth that will bring clarity to God’s view of sex and thereby empower young women to live with sexual integrity while healing wounds caused by sexual brokenness.

Staying Connected to God: A 60-Day Challenge

First Thessalonians 5:16-18 tells us, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

As Christians, we desire to connect with Jesus as our source of contentment and joy. But life gets in the way. We get busy raising children, tending to our marriages, or building our careers. We get distracted by technology, endless entertainment on social media, or circumstances that overwhelm us.

From Abortion Survivor to Pro-Life Advocate: A Miraculous Story of Redemption

Sarah Zagorski believes abortion is wrong – because she survived being aborted herself.

In 1990, Sarah’s mother fit the cultural criteria for an abortion: she was living in extreme poverty and enduring domestic violence, and already had 11 children. When she became pregnant with Sarah, she underwent a second-trimester induction abortion at 26.5 weeks gestation. The procedure failed, and Sarah was born alive. After a neonatal intensive care unit saved Sarah’s life, she went home to an unstable environment marked by poverty, abuse, and parental neglect.

Reigniting Your Passion for Jesus

I love meeting new Christians. Their faith is so alive and vibrant that it bubbles over into every area of life. They’re eager to serve and worship Jesus at every opportunity.

Do you remember feeling that way?

Unfortunately, many of us lose passion for our faith over time. It’s easy to do. We get busy with work, children, and household responsibilities, and the fire that once burned bright begins to fade.

If you’re wondering how to keep your passion alive – or to reignite it if it’s gone out – you’ll want to hear my conversation with Kim Meeder on Focus on the Family with Jim Daly.

Living Joyously

Man with hands raised

Motivational speaker David Ring often challenges people to persevere through their adversity by saying, “I have cerebral palsy. What’s your problem?”

David is something of an expert in adversity. He developed cerebral palsy after not receiving enough oxygen at birth. Throughout his life, he has endured excruciating pain, physical limitations, and public humiliation. Orphaned at age 14 after both of his parents died of cancer, David was moved from family to family and never felt he had a place to call home.

Being Wise with Your Money During a Crisis

Are you feeling the squeeze of a shaky economy?

Inflation is up.

Gas prices are up.

Utilities and groceries are more expensive than ever.

It can put your family on edge if you’re living paycheck to paycheck and wondering how you’re going to make ends meet. How do we stay positive and trust the Lord to see us through tough times?

Perhaps the most important step is to bolster your faith by remembering that God is in control.

How AI Is Shaping Our View of Reality

Person using an iPhone

This blog entry was not written by AI.

It’s remarkable that technology has become so sophisticated that disclaimers like that are necessary. But it’s true. Artificial intelligence is now a part of our everyday lives. Much of it is positive. Medical software can diagnose illnesses and predict treatment success. Language tools enhance research and writing. Generative tools have accelerated math and computations to unimaginable speeds.

But AI is also frequently used for purposes that are hazardous.

How to Answer Challenges to Your Faith

Some people say, “Truth doesn’t exist.”

Is that statement true? If truth doesn’t exist, then the statement itself is self-refuting.

Arguments against Christianity usually fall flat when we peel back the layers. The deeper we look, the more biblical faith blossoms. Even so, as logically coherent as Christianity may be, many of us struggle with knowing how to communicate that beauty to others.

I’m talking about how to do that with Greg Koukl, Christian apologist and founder and president of Stand to Reason Ministries, on Focus on the Family with Jim Daly.
