There may be no greater irony in our society than this.
Technology we could hardly have dreamed of thirty years ago is now at our fingertips. We can connect with almost anyone anywhere in the world within seconds in a dozen different ways – from the traditional phone call to email to social media to texting.
And, yet, more and more of us admit to feeling lonely.
How is that possible?
Maybe it’s because the “connection” we all believe we have is really an illusion.
I want to share some encouraging reports from this year’s Day of Dialogue free speech event.
When I originally blogged about the April 16th event giving Christian students a chance to share a hope-filled perspective on issues like marriage, sexuality and gender-identity issues, I told you we were expecting 18,000 young men and women would participate.
In reality, an estimated 25,000 students took the initiative to lead Day of Dialogue events in schools across the nation.
For years, Focus on the Family has been offering wonderful resources to help our friends with their marriage, parenting and faith journeys. I want to share some of the items we’re currently offering, or that will be available soon.
1. “Ready to Wed: 12 Ways to Start a Marriage You’ll Love” – Written by Focus marriage experts Dr. Greg and Erin Smalley for engaged couples, this book is full of helpful tips and wisdom to set soon-to-be newlyweds on a straight path toward a healthy marriage.
Picture a man named John on vacation with his family along the coast of the Mediterranean. They’ve just finished dinner and are enjoying a casual stroll to their hotel. The air is warm, the breeze is cool, and ocean waves are crashing into the shore. It’s like something from a postcard.
It’s at about that time John notices someone following them. A few steps later, another man appears from a side street up ahead. Now the man in front and the man behind start closing in.
After the national debut of “The Drop Box” we heard from many of you who were touched and influenced by the film. So for all of you who fell in love with Pastor Lee and the wonderful children he cares for, I want to share with you two ways you can help further promote the mission of the ministry.

“The Drop Box” has been nominated in the Film/Television Impact category for K-LOVE’s annual fan awards.
“Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?” (Luke 14:34).
The dominoes of truth and morality are falling at an alarming speed in our culture. Nearly every day it seems there’s another attack upon Christian values and religious freedom. In my blog, in just the past few days alone, I’ve discussed several instances where the very foundation of our faith is being undermined (see here, here, and here).
I don’t know about you, but there are times when I could use a good laugh.

That’s what makes what will happen on April 16 all the more encouraging.
On that day, an estimated 18,000 students will share a Christian perspective on sexuality at their high schools and colleges thanks to Day of Dialogue, a student-led free speech event.
Think about the courage it takes for teenagers to commit to sharing a hope-filled, Bible-based perspective on sensitive social issues like marriage, sexuality and gender-identity issues.
Unless you’ve been trapped in a cave somewhere, you’re probably aware that followers of Jesus are up against a stiff cultural challenge.
As you watch factions square off and the rhetoric rage, you wish you could do something about it.
You’re thinking to yourself, “There must be a better way. There has to be a better way.”
I’ve got good news for you. There is.
“Restoring All Things” is one-night-only event hosted by Focus on the Family, WORLD News Group, the Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview, and Prison Fellowship.
